Welcome to the class blog of COM 315! This course adderssses the specific challenges involved in communicating complex, technical information to both lay and experienced audiences. Throughout the semester, we will be reading several journal articles relating to how presenters can communicate complex ideas in a clear and understanding way. Speech Topic

I plan to give my speech about the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) currently being implemented by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) throughout the country. First I want to give a brief description of the WAAS system/operation using elucidation. An example I might use is that it does provide vertical path guidance to aircraft but does not rely solely on ground based stations like previous navigation systems with vertical guidance. I also plan to show why this system is worth knowing about and using due to its cost and widespread versatility. One example is that it will allow users of America's aviation system to travel safely to more destinations with less delays. Let me know what you all think!
